month: April 2012

I am so excited to announce my partnership with the Pediatric Therapy Network, located in Torrance, Ca. They selected my photography to represent the “vision” portion of the five senses! I will be donating a portion of my portrait packages when you book an appointment through their website; I have been fortunate to work with the talented staff at PTN for the last six years. I have documented therapy sessions as well as their outreach programs. This partnership came out of the work I did in creating a multi-media slide show with images from therapy sessions as well as recorded interviews from parents of children who are benefitting from their services.
In January of this year PTN created the “Sensory Partners Program” to increase awareness in which the sensory experiences enrich our lives, and also how these sensations can create challenges for some individuals. The sensory integration program works with the children who struggle to process all the input they receive through their senses. This in turn helps the child to better comprehend their surroundings.
In addition to speech and physical therapy, PTN offers occupational therapy for children. Occupational therapy can include play, learning and socializing with friends. The therapists use the “occupation” of play to help children develop skills to become more independent. This announcement coincides with Occupational Therapy Month, and I’m excited to be a part of the celebration!
Below are images from actual occupational therapy sessions where children are working on sensory integration.
